武汉确诊7例SARS的消息，为提醒亲人注意，李医生成为首次发出病毒防控预警的人之一，却因在互联网发布不实言论，被武汉派出所提出警示和训诫。当病毒全面爆发，李医生因接收病人被感染，最终被病毒夺去生命。就李医生的去世，政府是否公开透明，对言论的不当处置掀起了沸腾的民意，他也被舆论称为：新冠肺炎疫情的“吹哨人”。
