San Andreas is a disaster movie by Warner Bros. It is directed by Brad Peyton. Dwayne Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, and Ioan Gruffudd co-starred in the movie. The movie depicts a statewide earthquake that strikes both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Dwayne, who is a rescue helicopter pilot in the LA fire department, goes on a search to save his daughter.
The name of the movie refers to the San Andreas Fault. It is a fault first discovered by Dr. Andrew Lawson of the University of California at Berkeley in 1895. The fault runs 810 miles north to south along the Pacific coast. Like a ticking time bomb, thirty-five miles of the fault lays right across Los Angeles area.
San Andreas was recently a big-budget disaster movie. A total of more than 1,400 special visual effects were used to show the collapse of Hoover Dam, Golden Gate Bridge, and skyscrapers, including effects such as the ground separating, and tsunamis. You can only feel the earth shaking effect of the mountains in the theater. Come to feel this shocking and fearful 3D movie during the 11th Chinese American Film Festival (CAFF).
The movie is also educational. Despites the sensory stimulating scenes of disaster, the movie delivers useful information on how to survive in extreme situations such as earthquake and tsunami. For example, Dwayne Johnson is teaching others the principles of the triangle refuge in the movie. It is entertaining and informative. Anyway, hope you will not need to use the knowledge you learnt from the movie, ever. In sum, San Andreas is a great entertaining popcorn movie. You simply cannot miss it.
