The documentary is following a young girl who lives alone in a small village in Guangxi. She is one of the Kam people and while her parent had to move to another province for work, she stays behind in order to grow up in her own culture. She lives alone and takes care of herself and other children in the village. The documentary shows both the difficulties of living alone and also the strength she draws from it by being an independent and responsible human being at the age of ten. While her family is away, the Kam community becomes her family.
