After a ten-year-break, Director Clifton Ko makes his premier in the Chinese American Film Festival with his new movie, Wonder Mama. Starring Bo-Bo Fung (Hong Kong Film Awards Best Supporting Actress), the family drama unfolds smoothly as it is the film genre Ko excels in directing. On the other hand, Bo-Bo Fung is hardly seen recently on the big screen but, she said she was moved by the script and decided to take part in the movie. With its diversity in generation of the actors, the movie will be revealed in front of the audiences during the Chinese American Film Festival in November.
The movie is adapted from a real story and features Bo-Bo Fung, Kenneth Tsang, Susan Yam-Yam Shaw, Babyjohn Choi, and Gardner Tse. A single mother, who struggles and fights for living, suddenly realizes that all she was depending upon: her father, her husband, and her son, have left her one by one. She has to fight for living on her own and find the meaning of her life. Bo-Bo Fung says she likes the story, “How she is facing all the changes, her solid and cool attitudes, has made me confident in what I was delivering in the film.”
Coated with comedian elements, the movie talks about gaps, such as the gap between generations. The movie projects the societal issue to a single family and the relationships between three generations within the family. The key line is to solve the communication gap. The main character, which is the single mother, struggles to communicate and understand her father and her son. The father is in a romantic relationship after years of divorce and the son is antisocial. Bridging the gap, then, is the topic of the movie.
The movie is dedicated “to mothers”, and the love between generations, says the producer. Come and enjoy the movie with your family. You will have the chance to talk to the director.
