Ling, a Chinese immigrant to NYC, a former Peking Opera performer, has slowly grown apart with her son, David, who dabbles in rap. Their estrangement is put under the spotlight when they visit Ling’s aging master at his senior residence. During their visit an unexpected accident involving Master Li triggers them to put together the missing pieces in each others lives.
